Chelsea (she/her) is a mixed early European settler to what is now known as Canada and the U.S. through her paternal lineage, and a mixed European settler and Mi'kmaq from Ktaqmkuk (Newfoundland) through her maternal lineage. She is a member of the Mekap'sk Mi'kmaq Band, and the Newfoundland Indigenous Peoples Alliance. Chelsea's husband and children hold ancestral ties to the Quw'utsun village of L'uml'umuluts.
Chelsea holds a B.A. Anthropology (with Distinction) from Malaspina University-College (2008); and a Masters of Environment and Sustainability from the University of Saskatchewan (2012). She also holds a Sanyas Indigenous Cultural Safety training certificate. Prior to founding Sipu to Stalo, Chelsea worked both as an independent contractor, and as a sub-contractor to several consulting companies. She holds over 13 years of experience working as an applied Anthropologist in impact assessment to Indigenous Rights and Title, Interests, and Treaty-related measures throughout the colonial bounds of B.C., Alberta and N.W.T. Chelsea is honoured to have worked with distinct Indigenous Nations and organizations on the traditional lands of the Coast Salish, Coast Tsimshian, Dakelh, Dane-zaa, Dene, Nlaka'pamux, Secwepemc, and Wet'suwet'en Peoples.
